Students (graduate or undergraduate) from all universities are encouraged to submit an abstract for consideration. The competition consists of a presentation of your work in one of the technical sessions at the SES conference. A panel of judges will attend the presentations and make the final award decisions. No formal written paper is required for the competition. Cash awards will be given for first ($1000), second ($500) and third prize ($250). Partial travel expenses to the conference will be provided to participants in the student paper competition (~$300).
Interested students should submit a one page abstract of their work via email to one of the competition organizers by the deadline. Information on deadlines and conference organizers can be found at the website for the current annual SES conference.
* The abstract must be MS Word format or text.
* Only one student author per submission. Abstracts must include the name, email and mailing address of the student author.
* All submissions must have a faculty sponsor. By sponsoring the submission the faculty member certifies that the work is of sufficient quality to merit presentation. Students wanting to submit an independent piece of research should contact a faculty member who is knowledgable about the work and ask him/her to act as the sponsor. The abstract must contain the name and the email address of the faculty sponsor.
